Can we… give you a call?

Why, hello! My name is Jacinda and this morning I had two lectures and a tutorial before coming to work at the Alumni Relations and Development Office. I’m a third year Arts student studying double major History and Writing Studies with a Diploma of Languages in Chinese and French.

From March to May this year students like me will be on the phones calling graduates like you, as part of the 2017 Telephone Appeal. We’ll be updating your details, catching you up with what’s happening on campus and perhaps getting a bit of your wise advice as we look towards life-after-uni.

We’ll also be chatting to you about the University of Auckland’s Campaign For All Our Futures to find out what question you want answered most. Is it ‘Can we create better museums?’, ‘Can we heal through creativity?’ or maybe ‘Can we create a digital me?’. We can’t wait to hear your suggestions!

You will also be given the opportunity to join us as we endeavour to make study a reality for some of our fellow students who are really struggling. As students, we know how tough things can get and how much of a difference a scholarship can make when continuing seems impossible. We want to partner with you to make the potential possible for these students. Working with the alumni community last year, we were able to create three amazing new scholarships for students from refugee backgrounds.

The student calling team and I are looking forward to having some great conversations with you!
