About the Society

Formed in 1989, the University of Auckland Society gathers alumni and friends to advocate for the University and promote its best interests.

History and mandate

The University of Auckland Society began as the Alumni Association in 1989, changing to its current name in 2003. Comprising a unique group of alumni and friends, the Society advocates for the University, and seeks to advance its best interests. Its aims include:

  • To promote and further the best interests of the University of Auckland and advance education in general
  • Engender support for the University
  • Inform and promote University activities to its members
  • Help members connect with the University through faculties, departments, associated institutions or other special interests - including groups based overseas

Members pay an annual levy, and in return receive exclusive benefits.
