Wilson Yeung graduated with BCom in 1997 and was also awarded a Senior Prize in Accounting and Finance and a Senior Prize in Commercial Law. Wilson studied his MCom with the T.R. Johnston Scholarship in 1998 and completed his Masters degree with a thesis on the corporate governance system of Hong Kong in 2000.

After his Masters graduation, Wilson joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in Hong Kong where he spent a couple of years on professional tax consultancy trainings.

In 2003, Wilson immersed himself into the commercial context in Mainland China and took the challenges as the Senior Tax Manager and the Vice President of Tax in Huawei Technologies and Tangula Luxury Trains respectively for a number of years, in-charging of all the tax compliance and planning affairs, governmental relationship maintenance, external advisor management and team building, etc.

During those years, Wilson made frequent business trips within domestic China and across the continents for providing the subsidiaries with on-site guidance on tax audit mitigations and participating global tax director conferences. Wilson contributed to the aforesaid multinational enterprises with his effective tax management solutions and comprehensive social network implanted into the businesses, thereby reducing the overall tax risk exposures for the companies and creating value to the stakeholders.

After spending almost seven years in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, Wilson has recently established his own consultancy practice, Huaxia Business Consulting, with several local partners in Shenzhen, aims at providing quality tax advisory and tax training services for corporate and individual clients in the Southern China region including Hong Kong and Macau. Wilson’s major strengths include transfer pricing, tax function establishment, tax incentive application, tax audit mitigation, indirect tax planning as well as expatriate personal income tax planning.

Wilson always welcomes any alumni and other interested parties to visit his company’s blog http://huaxia88.blog.163.com and share their valuable suggestions and comments with him for continuous improvements.

Furthermore, as NZTE is preparing to set up its representative office in Shenzhen in the coming year or two, Wilson is in the course of building up his cooperation relationship with NZTE, hoping to utilize his background to help promote and develop New Zealand businesses in the China market, particularly making the best use of the New Zealand-China Free Trade Agreement, which would involve plenty of customs issues and planning opportunities.

A suggestion Wilson wants to share with students is "everything will be ok as long as you have a positive faith".

During his leisure, Wilson enjoys playing football and reading fairy tales with his 4 year-old lovely son, David Yeung, who looks forward to commencing his primary school study in New Zealand soon.
