William Matautia: BEd(Tchg)

Hi my name is William Matautia and I am a native of New Zealand. I presently reside in the United Arab Emirates. I currently work as an English Teacher at a Military High School in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi. I demonstrate the ability to provide effective and supportive learning programs. I stimulate and extend gifted and talented learners. I have always maintained a high standard of expectations for myself and of the students. My flexibility and behavior management are my strengths and I have always had the ability to establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with all students and colleagues based on mutual respect and trust.

Having taught in South Auckland a very multi-cultured and diverse community I have been able to understand and respect the different cultures which I perceive to be one of the challenges of working in an education setting in the Gulf region.

I believe one of the other challenges may also be adapting to new programs and a curriculum that caters specifically for students in the Gulf region. I am receptive towards new programs, ideas and initiatives which have helped me to develop my own knowledge and understanding as a teacher. Therefore, as a teacher in the Gulf region, it has provided me with the opportunity of a life time to extend my own teaching career.
