Aims and activities
Society aims
- Promote and further the best interests of The University of Auckland and advance education in general.
- Engender support for the University.
- Inform its members and promote goodwill about activities of the University.
- Provide means whereby members may associate with the University through faculties, departments, associated institutions or other special interests, including groups based in particular countries or cities.
Current activities
The University of Auckland Society is engaged in many activities. Currently the Society:
- Assists and supports Auckland-based chapters.
- Is involved in running the Distinguished Alumni Awards, where 5 alumni per year have been honoured since 1996.
- Advocates for The University of Auckland with government and other groups.
Initiatives we support
- Exposure, the Postgraduate Research Exposition that celebrates academic excellence and student ingenuity.
- The University of Auckland Blues Awards which celebrates students' success in Sports, Arts and Culture.
- The University of Auckland Strings through the School of Music.
