Alumni Relations and Development

Alumni Relations and Development is The University of Auckland’s centralised point of contact for:

• alumni and friends, a 149,000-strong network spread across the Auckland region, throughout New Zealand and around the globe. Ranging from new graduates to “Golden Graduates” – those who have been Auckland alumni for 50 years or more – our alumni and friends can be found in a diverse range of fields including business, engineering, science, medicine, education, law, the arts, creative arts and theology; and
• philanthropy, which has a transformative effect on the University’s ability to deliver high quality teaching and research programmes directed at solving major issues both nationally and world wide, especially through the 'Leading the Way' Campaign.

Alumni Relations and Development comprises the Alumni Relations Office and the Development Office, with Advancement Services, Events, Communications, Research, Writing and Web management functions integrated across those two main internal departments.

Since 2003, it has been based in University House, 19A Princes Street, which was formerly the first Synagogue in Auckland, established in 1868.

It is also houses The University of Auckland Foundation, an independent registered charitable organisation which manages and invests the philanthropic funds donated variously to the University, the Foundation, and the School of Medicine Foundation.

Alumni Relations and Development also manages the valuable Hood and Seelye Fellowships, respectively, for both outward and inward bound outstanding academics.

The prime focus of Alumni Relations and Development is to nurture mutually beneficial relationships with alumni and other donors and friends who share our vision for the future of the University and its contribution to the betterment of humankind.
