First prize: Phil and James by Phillip Light

The three competition judges were unanimous in their selection of Philip’s photograph for the first prize.

Iain MacDonald, photographer at the School of Biological Sciences, praised the professional quality of Philip’s picture. “It’s a very well executed shot” Iain said “there’s technical skill and the composition is spot on. The timing of the photograph is perfect. You look at the photo and can’t help wondering what he has whispered to her. It’s a superb picture with great lighting and balance”.
