Richard Crowe - BE (Hons)
After completing a BE (Hons) in civil engineering, with a specialisation in geotechnical engineering, Richard spent a year in foundations engineering with geotechnical consultants Brickell Moss Rankine & Hill in Lower Hutt.
In 1974 Richard moved to New Plymouth and became involved in development of the Kapuni and Maui gas/condensate fields as an operations/petroleum engineer with Shell BP and Todd Oil Services Ltd (SBPT).
Richard subsequently worked in joint venture management and petroleum engineering roles for Shell (Petroleum Mining) Co. Ltd in Wellington and Shell International in The Hague, Netherlands (on Venezuelan oilfields), before returning to SBPT in New Plymouth. He then worked as the Maui A platform topsides project engineer managing a significant number of general platform facilities refurbishment projects, followed by a period as senior petroleum engineer on the Kapuni field.
In 1992 Richard joined Todd Petroleum Mining Co. Ltd (TPM) in the new role of Operations & Technical Manager, and established a New Plymouth office for TPM, overseeing the company's extensive STOS-operated upstream oil and gas field interests in onshore and offshore Taranaki. These interests have grown over the last 5 years to include varying equities in the Maui, Kapuni, McKee, Mangahewa and Pohokura gas, condensate and oil fields, and the OMV-operated Maari offshore oil field. Richard recently achieved 30 years' service in the upstream petroleum industry, and continues to manage TPM's NP office, which has grown to an establishment of 4 experienced petroleum and drilling engineers.
Richard has found his career pathway varied, interesting, stimulating and rewarding, in the multi-national upstream oil and gas exploration and production industry. When he isn't working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 5 children, following various sporting interests, and working on home improvement projects.
