John Wishart - BSc, Dip Tchg, TTC, MEd
John Wishart was awarded a BSc specialising in computer science in 1986, and has since combined his passions for technology and teaching by working at the Jakarta International School as an education specialist.
After leaving the University in 1986, John found the working conditions of Computer programming rather depressing, and decided to further his education at teachers college. He really enjoyed working with students and adults and decided to continue his career in the field of education.
After completing his Diploma of Teaching, John got a job at Mount Maunganui College and within 2 years he gained his Trained Teachers Certificate.
John had always enjoyed travelling and decided now would be a good time to see the world, so in 1993 he moved to Jakarta International School and began working as a technology teacher.
In 1994-1995 he attended Trenton State College, New Jersey gaining his Masters of Education.
John still works at Jakarta International School as an education specialist and has the role of technology coordinator for the high school as well as being department chair.
Memorable moments of his time at The University of Auckland include living in O'Rourke hall, enjoying sunny days in Albert Park and working in the Maidment Theatre, where he learnt about lighting and theatre design.
John enjoys travelling, scuba diving, sailing, wine tasting, going to the gym, and living life well.
