Erica Chan - BAS, BArch
Erica Chan was awarded a BAS in 1998, and graduated again in 2000 with a BArch.
After graduation, Erica took time out to de-stress and prepare her portfolio. Her job hunt took her to Los Angeles, London, Hong Kong and then to New York, where she was offered a role that suited her.
Erica spent 3 years there before moving into her current role as senior designer at Medhat Salam Associates. Although she doesn't feel that architecture pays well, it is her passion, and she finds her job very satisfying. She's looking forward to taking her Architectural Registration Exam at the end of 2005 to help further her career.
When asked about her memories of student life, Erica mentions the convenience of having a popcorn machine in the student lounge at University, BBQ parties in the Architecture courtyard, and the painful struggle to get up really early in order to secure a convenient parking space!
In her spare time she likes to snowboard, ski, hike, camp, go to the beach, and spend lots of time relaxing - reading, watching DVDs, and playing with her cat and dog. She recently qualified as an advanced diver.
