Arthur Young - LLB
Arthur is a pre-eminent commercial lawyer with substantial experience in international business. As a senior partner first in Sheffield Young, and then Chapman Tripp Sheffield Young, he has represented many major corporate clients notably solving 'intractable' problems after the sharemarket crash of 1987. He is regarded as an 'elder statesman' and advisor to lawyers from other law firms, sought for his wisdom and expertise.
Arthur's voluntary contribution to the wider community is equally outstanding, though less well known. It ranges from contribution to the Auckland University Students' Association in the 1950s to service on the University Council in the 1960s, and he has chaired the St John's College Trust Board and served on other Anglican and community trusts for many years.
Arthur received a Distinguished Alumni Award in 2002.
